Hi, my name is Rick. As a child, I enjoyed school projects involving things like dioramas, posters, cartoons, and filmstrips. I loved being told a story with the help of classic illustrators like Quentin Blake or Tomie dePaola.
Later, during high school, an aunt connected me with an internship at a major global advertising agency in Boston for two consecutive summers. My love for being creative coupled with this experience convinced me that, although I didn’t yet know the correct term for it, I wanted a career in visual communications.
After high school, I attended Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, enjoying the privilege of studying under world-renowned illustrators such as Murray Tinkelman, Bob Dacey, and Roger De Muth.
After graduating, I picked up whatever freelance work I could get my hands on. To pay the bills in the meantime, I started work at a New Hampshire construction company, doing entry-level web design, photography, and marketing work. Later, I moved on to a position at PFERD INC., the North American subsidiary of a German abrasives manufacturer, where I was responsible for graphic design, web design, video, retail, brand management, and managing trade shows and marketing programs for almost 16 years.
Most recently, I have been working at Hypertherm Associates, a global manufacturer based in New Hampshire, specializing in metal cutting and shaping solutions, as a content strategist, and currently as a Senior Communications Specialist for Change Management on HR’s internal communications team.
I love to cook, sing in the car, paint, read, hike, and lots more. I’m always on the lookout for new skills, hobbies, and experiences, including travel, volunteer work, and creative pursuits.
